Plenty of alerts, no answers
Many businesses have monitoring, but it does not help. Either it only checks whether a device is switched on, or hundreds of alerts arrive every day and nobody reads them. When a switch fails, the ten devices behind it each raise their own alarm; the real cause gets lost in the crowd.
ManageEngine OpManager is on-premises monitoring software that monitors network devices, servers and virtualisation infrastructure and turns performance data into alerts and reports.
What does OpManager do?
Discovers and maps the network
It automatically discovers devices on the network and builds physical and layer 2 connection maps. During an outage, you can see which device is connected to which port without tracing cables.
Shows what is happening inside virtualisation
It monitors VMware and Hyper-V hosts and virtual machines without agents. It becomes easier to tell whether a virtual machine’s slowness is caused by its own resources or by the load on the physical host it runs on. Storage and RAID status can also be monitored.
Learns thresholds from your usage
Adaptive thresholds use machine learning to learn each device’s normal behaviour. High CPU usage during working hours and the same value at midnight are assessed differently.
Automates the first response
With workflow automation, when a problem is detected, first steps such as restarting a service or running a diagnostic command are carried out automatically. Alerts reach the right person by email and SMS; syslog messages are also turned into alerts using rules.
Grows with add-ons
Network configuration management, flow analysis and firewall log analysis can be connected to the same console as add-ons. In multi-branch organisations, remote sites report to the centre through a distributed monitoring architecture.
OpManager with Unna
- We listen first. We identify your critical systems, your branch structure and who needs to be informed, and through which channel, when a problem occurs.
- We plan together. We design the devices to be monitored, the licence scope, dependency relationships and alert rules. We define dependencies from the outset so that, when a switch fails, the devices behind it do not each raise a separate alarm.
- We install and fine-tune. We run discovery, build the dashboards and weed out unnecessary alerts in the first few weeks.
- We stay by your side. We follow up on alerts with you and share capacity trends in periodic reports.
Part of the whole
- On our network and server monitoring page, we explain our monitoring approach as a whole.
- NetFlow Analyzer shows which traffic is flowing through a line that appears full in OpManager.
- With Firewall Analyzer, we report on firewall logs within the same ManageEngine ecosystem.
- In your VMware and Hyper-V clusters, we spot capacity bottlenecks before users notice them.
- By monitoring disk usage on backup servers, we prevent backups from silently stopping.
Frequently asked questions
Does OpManager run in the cloud?
We usually install OpManager on your own server or virtual machine. This way, monitoring data stays within your organisation.
Which protocols does it use to collect data?
It collects data via SNMP from network devices, WMI from Windows servers and CLI from other systems. In most cases, there is no need to install agents on devices.
How is licensing determined?
Licensing is based on the number of monitored devices and the chosen edition (Standard, Professional, Enterprise); a device’s interfaces, disks and metrics are included in the device licence. Once your needs are clear, we choose the appropriate scope together.
